Arisa Burgest, a former Chief Financial Officer at JC Lewis Primary Healthcare Center, has filed a lawsuit against her former employer in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. The case, filed on September 8, 2025, alleges that Burgest was terminated in retaliation for whistleblowing activities under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). According to the complaint, Burgest raised concerns about financial mismanagement and violations of federal grant requirements during her tenure. Despite her disclosures to senior management, she claims she faced obstruction and was ultimately dismissed from her position. Burgest is seeking damages including back pay, compensatory damages for reputational harm and emotional distress, as well as attorneys’ fees.
