Jauan Rashun Porter, a resident of Rome, Georgia, was arrested and charged with making threats against the President of the United States. According to federal authorities, Porter allegedly posted threatening comments during a TikTok livestream on July 26, 2025. The livestream focused on former President Donald Trump and included statements from Porter about killing Trump.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg stated, “The allegations against Porter are serious and required a swift, decisive, and collaborative response. We do not tolerate threats against public officials or law enforcement officers, and Porter will now face the consequences of his actions.”

Robert Donovan, Deputy Special Agent in Charge at the Atlanta Field Office of the United States Secret Service said, “The United States Secret Service takes threats against a protectee very seriously. We will investigate every threat, and if warranted, prosecute those who make threats to the fullest extent of the law.”

Authorities reported that after joining the livestream titled “Alligator Alcatraz,” Porter commented: “So there’s only one way to make America great and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes.” He allegedly continued making similar threats over several minutes with further statements about killing Trump and confronting federal agents.

Law enforcement officials conducted searches at Porter’s apartment as part of their investigation. During these searches they found two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite (an explosive). Authorities also noted that Porter has prior convictions for terroristic threats and other offenses including influencing a witness, mutiny in a penal institution, drug possession, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and domestic violence. At the time of his arrest he was on probation.

Porter was charged by criminal complaint on August 7 and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Walter E. Johnson who ordered him detained pending a hearing scheduled for August 12.

Officials reminded the public that charges are allegations only; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt at trial.

The case is being investigated by the United States Secret Service with assistance from local agencies including Floyd County Police Department and Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Assistant United States Attorney Brian Michael Pearce is prosecuting.
