Governor Brian P. Kemp has declared a State of Emergency across Georgia in response to the approaching Winter Storm Fern, which is expected to impact the state beginning January 22, 2026. The executive order aims to enhance preparedness, support response operations, and facilitate recovery efforts related to the storm.

In addition to the statewide emergency declaration, several counties have announced closures due to anticipated hazardous conditions from Winter Storm Fern. Authorities are advising residents to monitor official sources for updates as more information about specific closures will be provided soon.

“Governor Kemp’s 1/22/2026 Executive Order Declaring State of Emergency for Winter Weather,” according to an official statement.

The Judicial Council of Georgia Administrative Office of the Courts has noted that further details will be shared as they become available.
