A Georgia man, Devon Marquell Rambo, 28, was found guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The trial took place from May 27 to May 28 under Chief U.S. District Judge Leslie Gardner in Albany, Georgia. Rambo faces up to 15 years in prison, with sentencing yet to be scheduled.

“Convicted felons caught illegally possessing firearms will face federal prosecution in the Middle District of Georgia,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney C. Shanelle Booker. She acknowledged the efforts of the Albany Police Department and ATF for their cooperation.

Beau Kolodka, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at ATF Atlanta Field Division, emphasized that “this verdict sends a clear message: We are watching, we are acting and we are not backing down.”

Albany Police Chief Michael Persley expressed gratitude for the support from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and noted that this case should serve as a warning against illegal firearm possession.

The incident began on September 20, 2024, when Albany Police responded to reports of shooting and disorderly conduct at a residence on Avalon Avenue. Officers obtained and executed a search warrant where they found Rambo alone. During the search, officers discovered firearms along with Rambo’s personal documents.

Rambo has previous felony convictions in Texas for domestic violence and burglary and faced an active arrest warrant for aggravated assault during this incident.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.

The investigation involved collaboration between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Albany Police Department, and Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution is led by U.S. Attorneys Sara Lim and Matthew Redavid.
