A Sparta, Georgia man with previous drug convictions has pleaded guilty to possessing firearms as a convicted felon. Rodricas Montreal Jacks, 39, admitted in court that he intended to distribute fentanyl and other drugs when authorities discovered him with three firearms, including a machinegun.
Jacks entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell on March 3. He faces up to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a possible $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for June 2. Federal law does not allow parole.
“Repeat felony offenders possessing the most dangerous weapons and distributing the deadliest drugs in our communities will be held accountable at the federal level, where there is no parole,” said U.S. Attorney William R. “Will” Keyes. “We appreciate the dedication of our law enforcement partners to make our communities safer for all residents and working with us to ensure justice.”
According to information presented in court, Jacks was already on probation for a prior felony drug distribution conviction when he failed two drug tests and did not complete required community service. Law enforcement searched his home on November 3, 2022, finding a machinegun and two additional firearms—one of which was stolen—as well as fentanyl and marijuana intended for distribution. Officers also found multiple digital scales, small plastic bags, cash, and suspected crack cocaine inside his car.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America—a Department of Justice initiative focused on combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime.
The investigation was conducted by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision with support from the Ocmulgee Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant U.S. Attorney Hannah Couch is prosecuting.
