In a recent decision by the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Jessie Strickland’s appeal against his 2003 convictions for aggravated child molestation and child molestation was denied. Strickland argued that the evidence was insufficient and that his due process rights were violated due to a 20-year delay in resolving his motion for a new trial. The court found that the evidence, including testimonies from victims J.M. and H.M., supported the convictions. It also concluded that despite the lengthy delay, Strickland failed to demonstrate how it prejudiced his appeal or affected his defense, ultimately affirming both his convictions and sentence.
