The Judicial Council of Georgia will hold a General Session on April 17 at the Nathan Deal Judicial Center in Atlanta. Chief Justice Nels S.D. Peterson will chair the meeting, which is set to begin at 10:00 a.m., according to an announcement from the council.

The meeting is significant as it brings together judges from appellate and trial courts across Georgia, along with a representative from the State Bar of Georgia. The council addresses policy and administrative matters that affect the state’s judiciary.

During this session, reports will be presented by several committees, including Access to Justice, Legislation, Budget, Judicial Security, ARPA Funding, Technology, Georgia Case Management System, Judicial Workload Assessment, Judicial Emergency Order Task Force, and Court Interpreters. In addition to committee updates, Frank O’Connell—Chief Judge of the Georgia Tax Court—will be sworn in as a new member of the council.

The council comprises 29 members who meet multiple times each year to deliberate on issues impacting court operations statewide. More information about the meeting agenda and materials can be found on the Judicial Council’s website at https://jcaoc.georgiacourts.gov/judicial-council/.

A livestream of Friday’s session will be available through the Judicial Council of Georgia’s YouTube channel.
