The United States Department of Justice announced on May 6 that it is seeking resumes from individuals interested in serving as trustees under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019, known as Subchapter V. The announcement invites applications for a pool of trustees who may be appointed to administer cases filed primarily in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Georgia, with possible assignments in nearby districts.

This solicitation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure qualified oversight and administration of small business bankruptcy cases. The Small Business Reorganization Act was enacted to streamline bankruptcy processes for small businesses and provides a specific framework under Subchapter V.

According to the Department of Justice, interested candidates should submit their resumes by June 5, 2026. Trustees selected from this pool will be considered for appointment on a case-by-case basis as new cases are filed under Subchapter V.

The department said that appointments will focus on cases within the Southern District of Georgia but may also extend to other nearby jurisdictions when appropriate. No additional background or context about previous appointments or numbers was provided in this notice.

Applications must be received by the stated deadline for consideration.
