In a recent court filing, Oleo Smith has initiated a lawsuit against Affinity Building Systems, LLC, alleging racial discrimination and retaliation in violation of 42 U.S.C. ยง 1981. Smith, an African American former employee of the company, claims he was subjected to a hostile work environment and disparate treatment by his supervisor, Enrique Mosquera. The complaint details incidents where Smith was denied raises and promotions despite excellent performance, and alleges that racially derogatory language was used against him. After reporting these issues to human resources, Smith contends he was wrongfully terminated under the pretext of lack of work. The lawsuit seeks various forms of relief including back pay, reinstatement or front pay, compensatory and punitive damages.
