Katris Clark, a former employee of Uniforms Direct, Inc., has filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination and retaliation in violation of her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The complaint was filed on January 20, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia against Uniforms Direct, Inc.
Clark’s lawsuit details a series of alleged discriminatory practices by her employer. She claims that despite being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis—a condition known to affect her ability to perform certain physical tasks—her requests for reasonable accommodations were not adequately addressed. According to the complaint, Clark was employed as a Returns Clerk starting July 9, 2018. Her condition necessitated accommodations such as avoiding heavy lifting and repetitive motions. In March 2025, she formally requested these accommodations from Human Resources but faced resistance from Director Troy Meadows who suggested she might need to find another job due to her health issues.
Clark also took FMLA leave for surgery related to her condition in April and May 2025. Upon returning, she continued to request necessary adjustments to her work environment but faced delays and inconsistencies in their implementation. For instance, while some accommodations were granted, others like task rotation and working hours were either delayed or ignored. Clark alleges that these actions led to performance issues due to the pain caused by her unaccommodated disability.
The complaint further describes how Clark was subjected to unfair treatment by her supervisor Antonette Stevens, who allegedly refused training opportunities citing Clark’s health as a reason. After raising concerns about discrimination based on her disability and FMLA leave usage with HR representative Jericha Moore and Director Meadows in September 2025, Clark claims she was retaliated against by being placed on a performance improvement plan focused only on select aspects of her work.
Ultimately, Clark was terminated on September 23, 2025. She contends this decision was made in retaliation for her complaints about discrimination and accommodation requests. Her termination followed closely after discussions where she reiterated her need for accommodations which had been previously approved without issue.
In seeking justice through the court system, Clark is asking for general damages for emotional suffering caused by Uniforms Direct’s alleged misconduct, liquidated damages for lost wages and benefits with interest thereon, punitive damages for reckless indifference towards federally protected rights under ADA and FMLA statutes. Additionally, she seeks attorney fees and litigation expenses along with declaratory relief affirming violations of statutory rights by Uniforms Direct.
Representing Katris Clark are attorneys V. Severin Roberts and Patrick Reid from The Workers’ Firm based in Atlanta. The case is presided over by Judge TRJ-CMS under Case ID: 1:26-cv-00340-TRJ-CMS.
