Priscilla Torres, a resident of Alabama, has filed a lawsuit against Augusta Sportswear, Inc., doing business as Momentec Brands, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. The complaint alleges discrimination and retaliation under several federal laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA), the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Torres claims she was discriminated against due to her pregnancy and that her requests for reasonable accommodations were denied. She further alleges that after informing her employer about her pregnancy and requesting leave, she was placed on a performance improvement plan and subsequently terminated. The lawsuit seeks damages for lost earnings, benefits, emotional distress, and attorney fees.
