In a recent decision by the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Sanjay Stewartson’s appeal was denied. Stewartson was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, following an incident in May 2018 that resulted in the death of a victim from a gunshot wound. The appeal centered on claims that his trial counsel was deficient for not preserving objections to jury instructions on mutual combat and that the trial court erred in allowing testimony about a surveillance video not entered into evidence. The court found no error in the jury instructions or the admission of testimony regarding the video, affirming Stewartson’s conviction.
