In a recent legal filing, Shanta Dalmeida has initiated a lawsuit against Fayette Community Hospital, Inc., operating as Piedmont Fayette Hospital, alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Dalmeida claims she was discriminated against due to her disability and retaliated against following her request for FMLA leave. She asserts that despite notifying her employer of her serious health condition and requesting necessary accommodations, she was wrongfully terminated under the pretext of attendance violations. The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief including back pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney’s fees.
