Shynise Ware has filed a lawsuit against Sunstates Security, LLC in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division. The complaint alleges discrimination and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Ware, a transgender woman, claims she was subjected to discriminatory comments about her gender identity by a colleague and that her complaints were not adequately addressed by management. After reporting these incidents, Ware was terminated from her position as Site Supervisor under what she argues are pretextual reasons related to an alleged policy violation. She is seeking damages for emotional distress, lost wages, and punitive damages, among other reliefs.
