In a recent legal filing in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, plaintiff Terrica Middleton has initiated a lawsuit against The Travelers Indemnity Company. Middleton claims that her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) were violated by her employer. She alleges that despite disclosing her anxiety and depression diagnoses, which are recognized disabilities under ADAAA, she faced discrimination and retaliation. Middleton’s request for reasonable accommodation to work from home was initially approved but later met with alleged discriminatory actions, including unfair performance reviews and eventual termination while on FMLA leave. Middleton seeks damages for lost wages, emotional distress, and punitive damages among other reliefs.
