Tyler J. Browning has been appointed as a Superior Court judge for the Cobb Judicial Circuit, covering Cobb County, according to an April 21 letter from Christopher P. Twyman, president of the State Bar of Georgia.

Browning’s appointment is seen as significant due to his extensive experience in family law and civil cases, along with his previous roles in public service and legal mediation. The announcement underscores ongoing efforts to maintain high standards within Georgia’s judicial system.

Twyman said, “By accepting this appointment, Judge Tyler Browning demonstrates his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this capacity of judicial leadership.” He also highlighted Browning’s background: “Judge Browning will be well served by his 26 years of experience in the legal profession, mostly representing clients in a variety of family law and civil cases as well as serving as a guardian ad litem, special master, and state-certified mediator and arbitrator. Before entering private practice, he served as an assistant solicitor general for Cobb County and as staff attorney for Cobb Superior Court Judge Robert E. Flournoy III.”

The Georgia Bar Association serves as the main professional body for lawyers across the state and promotes ethical standards while providing educational resources and wellbeing initiatives according to its official website. It funds its programs primarily through membership fees and voluntary contributions according to its official website.

The association supports mental health programs, mentorship opportunities—including running the country’s first required mentoring effort for new attorneys—and inclusion initiatives within the legal community according to its official website.
